Buildings Across Time: An Introduction to World Architecture

McGraw Hill, 2023

I was commissioned to produce a new edition Buildings Across Time: An Introduction to World Architecture by Michael Fazio, Marian Moffett and Lawrence Wodehouse.

Now in its sixth edition, the publisher describes how ‘Buildings Across Time brilliantly explores the essential attributes of architecture by uniquely combining both a detailed survey of Western architecture, including Pre-Columbian America, and an introduction to architecture from the Middle East, India, Russia, China, and Japan. Authors have searched out the stories these buildings have to tell, considered the intentions of the people who built them, and examined the lives of those who used them.’

My work involved reviewing the whole text and updating to reflect changing scholarship terminology. I also added a new section on ‘Architecture and the Global South’.
