The Farrell Centre presents What is an Ideal City? – a project of exhibitions, events and workshops exploring what kind of city we should be aspiring to.
Tyneside is often named one of the best places to live in the UK, renowned for its rich history, striking architecture and welcoming culture and community. Yet, like all places, it faces many challenges in ensuring that it works for everyone.
From July to December 2025, the Farrell Centre is exploring what we value most about where we live, what we would like to change and what kind of city we should be aspiring to. What, in short, is an ideal city, who gets to decide, and how do we bring it about?
